Small Arms Collection

The Royal Artillery Collection contains examples of many of the firearms issued as personal and crew-served weapons to soldiers and officers of the Royal Artillery.  This page gives a brief overview of this principal items in the collection. 

The Royal Artillery was raised in May 1716.  In its earliest years, officers would have carried swords for their protection and other ranks would have been equipped with a combination of halberts and swords.
